It's that time of year when the horses start growing out their hair...by springtime you won't even recognize them. We still have lots of playdays and birthday parties and of course, lessons, private and group. So...put on some extra layers and come out to meet the new horses.
Happy Trails

A Day at the Barn
Well summer is fast approaching and we are gearing up for camps and play days and parties and hopefully some sun at Once upon a Horse!
We now have a designated carrot garden and our wonderful sunflower garden which the horses just love. I have found out recently that black seeds from sunflowers are very good for horses and of course carrots without a doubt.
We have a poster we are printing of our lovely Amy eating a sunflower.
Soon you will find a copy of it in our "General Store" which will be up and running before the end of the month.
The general store will offer the poster along with clothing items and cards and brooms etc.etc.
Our horses are looking sleek and beautiful after shedding their winter coats and munching on fields of sweet grass. There is a bit of hay belly here and there but they look very content.
I am happy to report that Pepsico and I are back together again and things are going well.
I think he is enjoying it as much as I but I try not to assume.
I am trying to pay attention and see if their are days and times he does and doesn't want to be ridden. This is a new concept for me but interesting.
I am trying to let him be more of a partner, which is what I prefer.
So Spring is something we wait all winter for and regardless of the rain we are enjoying watching the new crop of hay growing and the birds nesting and the gardens growing.
Talk with you soon,
susie and once

Hi,
Miss Susie is writing her very first blog.
I unabashedly admit I have the BEST job in the world.
This is due in no small part to an army of people who have been involved as students, family, friends, parents and/or helpers and then of course my son George and Mr. Bobby.
Over the last fifteen years we have finally arrived.

Over the last fifteen years we have finally arrived.
Our sole intention is to introduce horses and riding to those young and old.
Safety and fun and the lore and lure of the West are our calling card.
"Horses, horses, crazy over horses" was the song my Dad used to sing to me.
My Mother says I spoke horse since I was 3.
I appreciate a day at the barn.
Please stay tuned.....
